Transport bosses answer charity’s Christmas wish
A CHRISTMAS party for more than 300 disadvantaged youngsters is to take place silver jewelry next month.
Wearside-based children’s charity Hope 4 Kidz, which helps youngsters across the region, is hosting its annual Santa’s Christmas party at Passion nightclub, in Sunderland on Sunday, December 6.
Many of the children are struggling to overcome long-term illness, disability and other problems such as poverty and abuse.
Among those attending will be pupils at Farringdon School, in Sunderland, which caters for young people with special educational needs such as autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
The charity recently appealed for selection boxes to be given out at the party and transport group tiffany bracelets Arriva generously donated 180 boxes.
Joanne Kerrigan, communications manager at Arriva plc, said: “Hope 4 Kidz plays a vital role supporting young people in the local community.
“The annual party helps make Christmas special for hundreds of disadvantaged children in our region by giving them amuch-needed break from the challenges they face.
“We hope that our donation will give the appeal the boost it needs and encourage more local people to support Hope 4 Kidz this Christmas.”
Anyone wishing to donate a selection box or items for the goody bags can drop them off at one of the charity’s designated collections points – the customer accounts desk at Joplings in Sunderland, the Early Learning Centre in The Gates shopping centre, Durham, Morrisons supermarket in Seaburn or any of the information desks in the MetroCentre tiffany cufflinks, Gateshead – before December 6.
All of the surplus gifts, selection boxes and goody bags that are not given out at the party will be donated to hospices, hospitals and special needs units around the North-East in time for Christmas.
